Do you know of the Ritchie 8mm primitive hooks imported from England? Well, I have one and I LOVE IT! It feels so good in my hand and the large bore shaft is just right for primitive rug hooking. A Midwestern artisan has made his own and they are fabulous! I have compared it to my Ritchie hook and these hooks are just as nice!

They have a stainless-steel shank, hardwood handle and a brass ferule, making for a really sturdy but not a heavy hook. I hold my hook like a pencil hook and I don't experience hand fatigue due to the larger diameter of the handle. Looking for a Ritchie style hook? These are as close as you can get! I have these beautiful 8mm hooks in beautiful, warm wood grains. I don't know the type of woods used in the hooks but they are lovely hardwoods.

The longer, single bulb longer handled hooks is 5&3/4" by 3/4" at its widest point. This longer handled hook is often held like a pencil when hooking.

They fly out the door as quickly as I get them in.
